Collection Extras: Hyperdunk
Take a closer look at the Nike Hyperdunk from The Collection.
When the season kicked off back in late October, there were more questions than answers for LA. The glory days earlier this decade were fading. It had been seven years since they were the #1 seed in the West and three years since they won the Pacific Division. And they started off the season with a lackluster record of 9-8. Things didn’t look good.
But Kobe didn’t panic. He doesn’t know how to. As the leader, he rallied the team around great play. Andrew Bynum grew by leaps and bounds, and when he went down, Pau Gasol filled the void. And when Kobe injured his left hand, he just kept on playing. He knew that without his game, LA was done. It would be hard to replace his 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists a game, but it would be impossible to replace the team’s heart and soul.
In a season that had many calling out ‘MVP’ for Kobe, he gave as good as he got. In the last game of the regular season, he notched his 4,000 assist, becoming the 16th player in NBA history with that many dishes and more than 21,000 points. Oh…and LA won the Pacific Division and claimed the #1 spot in the Playoffs.
Now the regular season is done, and the Second Season begins. In the Playoffs, the competition becomes tougher, the games get longer and the pressure separates the men from the boys. Even the slightest edge can make a difference.
In 2008 playoffs, Kobe’s edge will be the Nike Hyperdunks. The Hyperdunks represent the next evolution in sneaker technology. Not just the illest-looking shoe on the court, the Hyperdunks are also the lightest basketball shoe Nike has ever created. At 13 ounces, the Hyperdunks makes your flight that much longer.
The Hyperdunk, constructed with Nike’s “Fly Wire” technology, uses wires encased in the skim to harness the body of the shoe, eliminating weight above the sole. The sole is constructed with Lunar Foam, a material developed by NASA that gives the shoe a great feel with minimal weight. The Hyperdunk is also constructed with Vectran fiber, which is five times stronger than steel so it never loses it strength. With a breathable mesh tongue and a protective heel cup your safety and comfort is assured during your long flights.
Quite simply, the revolutionary Hyperdunk delivers all the support you need on the court with the least amount of weight. The Hyperdunk represents the future, and the future begins in this year’s playoffs.
