So when Nike set out to celebrate ten of the nation’s top college football programs for the Pro Combat Pack Zoom Huarache Trainers, creating a shoe for the Buckeyes was a given.

White hits Nike branding on the midfoot cross strap, as well as sections of the bootie and the heel. Red returns for branding hits like the Swoosh on the heel and Huarache logo on the grey rubber tongue badge. Housing Zoom Air in the heel and a Cushlon forefoot insert is a grey colored midsole, which is finished off with a grey and red Free-inspired outsole.
The real tradition lies in the footbed of each shoe. If you’re familiar with college football, you’ve probably seen Ohio State players with Buckeye stickers affixed to their helmets. A tradition that started with team trainer Ernie Biggs in 1968, players who make remarkable plays are rewarded with a sticker for their helmet. If you see a player with a helmet full of Buckeyes, it’s probably an indication of how good he is and how important his playmaking is to the team. A repeated Buckeye sticker pattern appears on the insole of the Huarache Trainer, taking the shoe from just being splashed with Ohio State colors to a piece of footwear that truly celebrates the program’s history.
The pictured pair below is a sample that was given to players and staff.
