繼杜克大學籃球校隊之後，NCAA 另一所長年與 Nike 合作、同為 Mamba Program 成員的南加州大學，也收到了要與選手們一起征戰新賽季的 Kobe 5 Protro PE，以學校的代表色組合出三款樣式。
從杜克到南加大，相信肯定有勘履者已經注意到，Nike Basketball 本季為大學校隊準備的 Kobe 5 Protro PE，不單單是配色上的變化，也透過鞋面材質做出不同質感，除了 5 代常見自帶光澤感的合成皮，還有漸層效果、消光霧面等處理。
南加大女籃在社群平台上開箱同時，也問球迷們最愛哪一色？
從長期合作夥伴到大女兒的母校
Kobe Bryant 高中畢業後便跳級打 NBA，雖然沒有去念過大學，但他與這所位在加州洛杉磯的學校淵源匪淺，十多年前原版 Kobe 4、Kobe 5 就有提供給 USC 校隊的專屬配色，現役 NBA 球員如 DeMar DeRozan、Nikola Vucevic 當年在校時就穿過，同期 Nike 還有推出市售版本。
Kobe Bryant 生前在《Tony Parker: The Final Shot》紀錄片中受訪時，曾穿著 USC 的衣服入鏡，他也不吝嗇展現對學生們的支持，像是現身場邊觀看球賽、僱用電影系的學生。

而他的大女兒 Natalia Bryant 在 2021 年進入南加州大學的電影藝術學院就讀，今年 5 月剛畢業。另外，Vanessa Bryant 近年出席女兒的學校活動時，曾著用 Kobe 4 ‘USC’ PE，推測很可能是 Protro 版，因為網路上流傳過非原版、2019 年的 Kobe 4 Protro USC PE。
